Brigitte's Journal
SOME AWESOME NEWS!
Updated November 18, 2008 by Brigitte.
So, it's been a week since I last updated my journal, and quite a lot has
happened in a week. Most of it is good. Here we go!
Good news
First, my mom got an email saying that Borders had this buy 1 get 1 half off deal
for all fiction books. So I was like, "There are some books I want that should fit into
the 'fiction' category. We should check it out." So we did, and it turned out that it
was only for adult fiction books. However, while we were there, I walked over to the
"bargain" area and checked out the books there. And I found this book called,
"Funky Things to Draw" which shows you how to draw fairies, fantasy creatures,
baby animals, and some other cool stuff. I also found a sketchbook on sale for
$5.99, which seemed like a pretty good deal and I liked to draw quite a lot. So I
ended up getting those two items.
Second, I LOST A TOOTH!!! MY LAST BABY TOOTH!!! LAST, LAST, LAST! I
got it out my twisting the tooth! Anyway, because I lost my last baby tooth, I'm
probably going to get braces soon! Maybe like next year! And that's considered
soon! I would get green braces! Like this color: greeness! If they have that color...
Third, my skating is still improving--a lot! And I've also been trying out a bunch of
combinations and trasitions, like three-turns before a double loop, or a split jump in
front of a double salchow. And more than likely you did not understand what I said
back there, but basically, I've been trying out some cool combinations.
Bad news
There are fires again!! In November! Weird, huh? Anyway, they haven't gotten
too close to us, and the wind is stopping so hopefully the fires will come to an end!
And another weird thing is that because of the fires, it's been pretty hot down here.
Just two weeks ago I said it was freezing, and now it's getting hot again! This is just
bizarre...
Another bad thing is that I'm testing for TaeKwonDo tomorrow to get my yellow
belt. I'm kind of excited, but I'm also nervous! It should be fun, though because
both my dad and Vicky are also testing.
Now that I've finished talking about news, here's a new section of my blog posts:

LONG TIME NO POST! SORRY!!!
Updated December 2, 2008 by Brigitte
Well, like what it says above, I am terribly sorry that I haven't posted anything
lately!! But, there definitely has been a lot going on...where should I start?
On November 19, my dad, sister, and I all went in to test for TaeKwonDo. I, being a
competitive figure skater, didn't feel that nervous. I mean, we were white belts moving
on to yellow, and this is only our first test; they're not going to fail us. However, my
sister was all like, "I'm nervous!" Ten minutes later... "I'm nervous!" But when we went
to test, it actually wasn't that bad. They called us up by belt color, and there were five
white belt-ers, I think... So, at least we didn't have to do it by ourselves, because all
the other students that were also testing were also watching us. They tested our
forms, a sequence of moves, self-defense, combinations, and oral questions. Most of
the questions were something like, 'What's the meaning of respect?' And, 'Why do we
bow when we enter the TaeKwonDo academy?' Stuff like that. It wasn't too hard. So,
as your probably guessed...we passed! Yup, we did! It's awesome...
Vicky had a swim meet the weekend of November 22, and she did pretty good.
Most of her times dropped by a couple seconds, and, personally, and I'm no pro at
swimming, but I thought her butterfly improved quite a lot, although she could still
stay a little more flat when she comes out of the water...But like I said, I ain't a pro.
Also, while we were at the meet, they had a smoothie stand and a snack bar (they
always do) with some awesome candy and food stocked up for those--points to
me--that aren't swimmers.
On Sunday, November 23, my mom, Vicky, and I all went to see Twilight. Just to tell
all of you, my mom finished Twilight before we went to see it, and she's now on New
Moon. Anyway you may be wondering, "Isn't Vicky too young to see Twilight?"
Yes...actually I didn't think she should go...but Vicky, who is a fan of Taylor Lautner,
the guy that plays Jacob Black, insisted to come with us. *rolls eyes* Oh well. Now
here's my review, and keep in mind, I'm not a movie critic or professional review
either, so I'm not very good at judging!! Oh, and I promise to not give out spoilers!
Pinky promise!
I thought, overall, the movie was good. They chose a pretty good cast of
actors/actresses, who portrayed the characters very good. I mean, it's difficult to
pretend like you've been living here for over a century, and I think it's just plain hard
trying to play a vampire. I liked the choice of music, especially since I've been
listening to the soundtrack over and over again, and it fitted the scenes well. I
especially loved the baseball scene, but like I promised, I'm not going to give out any
spoilers. There was some comedy in it too, so it wasn't all that tense. However, I
thought the movie felt really short compared to the books. They left out a lot of
details and scenes, so I think that if you've never read the book before, you'd have a
difficult time understanding everything. But, it was just a thrill to see the book (finally)
come to life!
And now, my review for Bolt! By the way, we saw it on Thanksgiving.
First, just let me tell you: it was ah-dorable!! And I never write words that way,
which just comes to show how adorable it was. To me. The actors and actresses
were also very good; Miley did a good job at Penny and John (Travolta) did great for
Bolt. The main plot was that Bolt gets lost, but I felt like the plot was a little used. After
all, Beverly Hills Chihuahua had pretty much the same plot.
Then later that day, my family went to one of my mom's friend's house and we had
turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and all of that good stuff. My mom's friend
also has two sons who are six and four, I think, and we played together and watched
"Tom and Jerry".
On Friday, another one of my mom's friend came from China to visit their daughter
who is studying English here and we gathered together at our house to have
honey-baked ham. My dad also invited one of my skating coaches and three of her
students who are training here until, like, January. So yeah, we had ham, and other
stuff that I don't remember...
I also had that orthondist consultation and my orthondist said I will get braces as
soon as all my permanent teeth grow in, which is around next April. I think I would get
rainbow or green for everyday-wear. For holidays...well, that just depends on the
holiday. Anyway, check the bottom post for Upcoming Events!
